Why don't I have the PERFECT body
November 18th, 2009 by Molli

Even though my body fat percentage hovers, very consistently, between 14-16% I still have cellulite on my hips and thighs. This is however a choice and not some horrible sentence that’s been placed upon me. My body stores fat in my lower extremities and so even though I don’t have much fat on my body everything that is excess meaning everything that isn’t being used to cushion organs or keep me alive is stored first in my lower body. Everybody is different in that respect. Certain body types will store it first in the lower body (pear shaped) some will store it in their midsection first, and some store it in their chest (Dolly Parton) there are other types but these are the most common and it always pops up somewhere first. You didn’t just wake up one morning 10 lbs. heavier. It may have felt that way but in reality your body storing it and it’s going to fill up one section before it moves onto the next.

You need a certain amount of fat to keep you alive. A 105 lb woman needs a minimum of 10lbs of fat on her body to be considered healthy, in most medical opinions. That’s the bare minimum. A larger person would need more fat, that’s why the measurement of Body Fat percentage is used, so that it relates to a percentage of the person’s weight.

So what do I mean by I choose to have fat on my lower body. What I mean is that I know for a fact that my body fat percentage is in a healthy range. I have made a plateau for myself at this weight and this Body Fat Percentage. In order to break my plateau I would have to change my diet, even further, and that is a choice.

Once your health is no longer in question, meaning once your body fat percentage is below 20 percent for a female or 18 percent for a male than it really becomes a question of vanity and what you want to keep in your diet. If you want to have 10 percent body fat percentage then guess what, when we say strict we mean strict!

Once you get down to your ideal weight and Body Fat percentage then you have what’s called a “maintenance” diet, which essentially means you have a new plateau and that will just feel natural to you.

Here are some typical days of women that are at a healthy weight and Body fat percentage and have maintained that for quite some time. This is their new plateau and this is what they eat.
